Le mardi 10 septembre, la communauté policière a été secouée par le décès de Dorce Scudery, un policier émérite, touché par balle lors d’une opération contre des gangsters à Gressier le dimanche 8 septembre. La perte de cet agent, membres de l’unité SWAT, a suscité une onde de choc et de colère au sein des forces spéciales.
En effet, ce mercredi soir 11 septembre 2024, 24 heures après la mort de l’agent de police Dorce Scudery, des agents du Groupe d’Intervention de la Police Nationale d’Haïti communément appelé SWAT Team protestent au niveau du local de l’unité pour réclamer de meilleures conditions de travail.
Avec des déclarations fulgurantes, les frères d’armes de Scudery ont ouvertement accusé le haut commandement de la police d’être responsable de la mort de leur frère d’armes. Selon eux, la gestion et les conditions de travail imposées par le haut commandement ont gravement compromis leur sécurité les exposant à des risques excessifs sans les moyens appropriés pour les affronter.
Les membres de l’unité SWAT ont dénoncé un manque flagrant de matériel adéquat, des conditions de travail déplorables et une absence de soutien concret sur le terrain. Ils réclament des améliorations immédiates, notamment en termes d’équipement et de conditions de sécurité, ainsi que le paiement de leurs primes de risque, qui sont restées en suspens malgré les dangers auxquels ils sont confrontés quotidiennement. De plus, ces agents de la PNH demandent qu’il leur soit aussi possible d’aller se faire soigner ailleurs comme les hauts dignitaires de l’État et les membres de leurs familles. Ce, à la suite de la mort de l’un des leurs en raison de la difficulté de traverser la route de Martissant avec le policier alors blessé.
Cette révolte met en évidence les tensions croissantes entre les agents de terrain et leur hiérarchie, révélant des lacunes sérieuses dans la gestion des risques et la prise en charge des agents engagés dans des opérations à haut risque.
