Haïti en proie à la terreur : un peuple abandonné à son sort

Port-au-Prince, capitale d’Haïti, est plongée dans une spirale de violence sans précédent. Alors que la population souffre et lutte pour sa survie, les autorités semblent plus préoccupées par leurs intérêts personnels que par la sécurité nationale.

La région métropolitaine de Port-au-Prince s’est progressivement transformée en une véritable zone de guerre. Abandonné à lui-même, le peuple haïtien assiste, impuissant, à l’inertie totale des autorités étatiques. Pendant que ces dernières se montrent incapables d’agir, les groupes armés de la coalition Viv Ansanm étendent leur emprise, intensifiant la terreur et plongeant le pays encore plus profondément dans le chaos.

Depuis plus de deux ans, les habitants de la capitale vivent au rythme des affrontements, sous des notes qui s’apparent à une guerre civile. Cette situation, loin d’être un hasard, est le résultat direct de l’inaction et de l’irresponsabilité des dirigeants. La dégradation de l’autorité de l’État et l’abandon de ses responsabilités laissent la population seule face aux violences et aux pillages.

Selon un rapport de l’Organisation Internationale des Migrations (OIM), publié en janvier 2025, plus d’un million de familles vivant dans des quartiers populaires comme Carrefour-Feuilles, Solino et Bas Delmas sont prises au piège des affrontements armés. Dépossédées de leurs biens, poursuivies, terrorisées et pillées, elles ne savent plus où chercher refuge. Face à l’inaction de l’État, certaines se résignent, d’autres tentent de fuir, tandis que quelques-unes choisissent de s’armer pour se défendre.

Pris entre le marteau et l’enclume, les citoyens sont les premières victimes de ce chaos. Peu importe les décisions prises – ou non – par les autorités, c’est toujours la population qui paye le prix fort. La situation est si catastrophique qu’elle ramène Port-au-Prince à une époque sombre où la survie quotidienne est un combat permanent. Aujourd’hui, les rues sont le théâtre de pillages, d’agressions et de tortures, parfois même orchestrés par des policiers eux-mêmes pris dans un engrenage de frustration et d’impuissance.

L’ex-Premier Ministre Garry Conille, avait déclaré : « …kay pa kay, katye pa katye ». Aujourd’hui, cette phrase est détournée par les gangs, qui s’en servent pour illustrer l’effondrement de l’État haïtien. Il est désormais impossible d’ignorer l’évidence : l’État a failli à toutes ses responsabilités et ce sont les citoyens qui en subissent les conséquences les plus dramatiques.

Jusqu’à quand les responsables politiques continueront-ils à servir des intérêts étrangers au détriment du peuple haïtien ? Le temps est venu de prendre un virage décisif pour sauver ce qui peut encore l’être. Si rien n’est fait rapidement, la situation pourrait devenir irréversible, entraînant Haïti vers un effondrement total.

Dans ce contexte chaotique, il est plus qu’urgent que l’État reprenne ses responsabilités. La restauration de l’autorité nationale et de la sécurité est la seule voie possible pour empêcher une catastrophe humanitaire encore plus grave. Haïti est au bord du gouffre, et chaque jour d’inaction rapproche un peu plus le pays du point de non-retour.
