Saint-Gérard : une Pâques loin du clocher

La fête de Pâques 2025 est marquée par la douleur et l’exil pour les fidèles de la paroisse Saint-Gérard de Carrefour-Feuilles. Chassés par la violence, ils célèbrent leur foi dans l’angoisse, loin de leur église, mais portés par l’espérance d’un retour.

Ce dimanche 20 avril 2025, l’Église catholique universelle célèbre la Résurrection du Christ. Deux (2) mois après les attaques des bandits armés à Carrefour-Feuilles, les habitants et les fidèles chrétiens de la paroisse Saint-Gérard souffrent de ne pas pouvoir célébrer dans l’enceinte de leur église.

Déstabilisés, les prêtres de la Congrégation du Très-Saint-Rédempteur ont été contraints d’abandonner les lieux pour se réfugier dans d’autres quartiers de la capitale. Carrefour-Feuilles s’ajoute désormais à la liste des territoires perdus.

Malgré tout, certains fidèles de la paroisse, portés par l’espérance de la Résurrection, refusent de perdre espoir. Ils croient fermement que leur saint patron, Gérard, intercède pour eux et qu’ils pourront un jour retourner à Carrefour-Feuilles pour vivre pleinement leur foi. Loin de leur paroisse habituelle, plusieurs d’entre eux ont rejoint d’autres églises à Delmas ou Pétion-Ville, non sans angoisse ni amertume.

À Port-au-Prince, des paroisses telles que Saint-Gérard, Saint-Alexandre, Saint-Antoine-de-Padoue et Sainte-Anne, pour n’en citer que quelques-unes, n’ont pas pu célébrer la fête de Pâques. La liste des lieux affectés reste malheureusement longue.
