Haïti : Journée latino-américaine de la presse sur le thème « Médias et culture de la paix »

Une cérémonie de grande envergure s’est tenue ce samedi 7 juin 2025 à l’Hôtel Montana, à l’initiative de la Commission de restructuration de la Radio et Télévision Nationale d’Haïti (RTNH). Déroulée sur le thème « Médias et culture de la paix », cette Journée latino-américaine de la presse a réuni journalistes, universitaires, intellectuels et représentants de la société civile autour d’une réflexion approfondie sur le rôle des médias dans la construction d’une société pacifique en Haïti.

Diffusé en direct sur les ondes de la RTNH, l’événement a été officiellement lancé par les maîtres de cérémonie Brincy Fils-Amé et Odca Valcourt, qui ont su instaurer un climat propice à l’échange d’idées et à la réflexion critique tout au long de la journée.La journée a été structurée autour de trois panels thématiques, chacun abordant une dimension essentielle du lien entre journalisme, responsabilité citoyenne et culture de la paix.

Premier panel : « Quelle est la responsabilité des médias de service public et d’État dans la promotion d’une culture de la paix ? »

Les intervenants Godson Pierre (journaliste senior), Joseph Guyler C. Delva (secrétaire général de SOS Journalistes) et le professeur Erold Toussaint (Université d’État d’Haïti) ont plaidé pour un service public médiatique plus éthique, inclusif et engagé dans l’éducation civique. La modération a été assurée par Yves Paul Léandre et Sandra Lynella André.

Deuxième panel : « Quel rôle les journalistes et travailleurs de la presse peuvent-ils jouer dans la promotion d’une culture de la paix ? »

Ce forum interactif a réuni Ary Régis (Université d’État d’Haïti), Ronald Saint-Jean (directeur général des Presses Nationales) et Frantz Duval (rédacteur en chef du Nouvelliste). Tous ont insisté sur la nécessité de promouvoir un journalisme rigoureux, indépendant et responsable, capable de désamorcer les tensions sociales par une information équilibrée. Les échanges ont été modérés par Roland Laguerre et Rachel St Fort.

Troisième panel : « Comment les médias peuvent-ils promouvoir l’harmonie et une culture de non-violence ? »

Ce dernier panel a mis en avant les analyses de Louis Naud Pierre (sociologue), du Dr Joël Lorquet (journaliste senior), de Caleb J. Desrameaux (ancien député) et de Jean Bonald Fatal (syndicaliste et journaliste). Ensemble, ils ont souligné le rôle transformateur des médias dans la diffusion de récits porteurs d’espoir, de dialogue et de respect mutuel. La modération a été assurée par Jean Robert Raymond et Quetya Aubin.

Cette initiative, largement saluée par les participants, s’inscrit dans une volonté collective de redéfinir le rôle de la presse en Haïti. Elle vise à redorer le blason d’un secteur souvent critiqué, mais toujours essentiel dans l’élaboration de l’opinion publique et la consolidation du vivre-ensemble.

De ces échanges, une conviction forte a émergé : les médias ne doivent pas se contenter d’informer. Ils doivent aussi éduquer, sensibiliser, apaiser et inspirer. En diffusant des contenus axés sur la paix, la solidarité et la cohésion sociale, les journalistes peuvent devenir des acteurs clés du changement dans une Haïti en quête de stabilité et de renouveau.
