Haïti : Médecins Sans Frontières ferme son centre d’urgence à Turgeau face à l’insécurité

Face à la dégradation alarmante de la sécurité dans le centre-ville de Port-au-Prince, Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) a annoncé la fermeture définitive de son Centre d’Urgences et de Référencement, situé sur l’avenue Charles Summer, à Turgeau. Cette décision entrera en vigueur à compter du 1er novembre 2025.

Selon l’organisation humanitaire, l’établissement est devenu inopérant sur le plan sécuritaire, étant régulièrement exposé à des tirs nourris, des balles perdues et d’autres incidents graves mettant en péril la vie des patients et du personnel médical.

“Nous ne pouvons plus garantir la sécurité minimale nécessaire pour continuer à opérer dans ces conditions “, a déclaré un représentant de MSF lors d’une rencontre officielle avec les autorités haïtiennes.

Malgré tout, MSF réaffirme son engagement humanitaire en Haïti. En partenariat avec le ministère de la Santé publique et de la Population (MSPP), l’organisation prévoit de lancer rapidement des missions d’évaluation afin d’identifier les besoins sanitaires prioritaires et de déterminer un nouveau site d’implantation, plus sécurisé mais toujours accessible aux populations vulnérables de la capitale.

En effet, le centre de Turgeau, l’un des rares établissements à offrir des soins d’urgence gratuits et de qualité, accueillait quotidiennement un bon nombre de patients. Sa fermeture constitue donc un nouveau coup dur pour un système de santé haïtien déjà affaibli par des années de crise.

Cette décision a été au centre des discussions, ce mardi 14 octobre 2025, à la Villa d’Accueil, lors d’une rencontre entre une délégation de MSF et les Conseillers-Présidents Fritz Alphonse Jean et Frinel Joseph.

Le Conseil Présidentiel de Transition s’est dit préoccupé par les conséquences humanitaires de cette fermeture et a réaffirmé sa volonté de renforcer la coopération avec les acteurs du secteur de la santé. Dans cette perspective, il a appelé à une action concertée pour rétablir un climat de sécurité durable, condition indispensable à un accès équitable et efficace aux soins de santé pour toute la population.
