Hier, 26 juin 2024, une tentative de coup d’État a eu lieu en Bolivie. Le général Juan José Zúñiga, chef des forces armées, a massé des troupes et des blindés devant le palais présidentiel à La Paz, affirmant vouloir restructurer la démocratie. Si ce dernier, a été arrêté pour son implication dans cette action, ses motivations restent floues et soulèvent des questions sur la nature réelle de l’incident.
La journée a commencé comme une autre dans la capitale bolivienne, La Paz. Cependant, la tranquillité a été interrompue lorsque des soldats ont été aperçus prenant position devant le palais présidentiel. Leur intention était claire : renverser le gouvernement démocratiquement élu du président Luis Arce.
Alerté par la situation, le président Arce, a rapidement qualifié l’action de tentative de coup d’État et a appelé à la mobilisation populaire pour défendre la démocratie. Le président a dénoncé les mouvements irréguliers de l’armée et a insisté sur le respect de la démocratie.
Après plusieurs heures d’occupation et une tentative d’entrer dans le bâtiment, Zúñiga s’est retiré avec ses troupes vers une caserne de la capitale où il a été arrêté. Le général, avant son arrestation, a affirmé devant les journalistes avoir agi sur ordre du président Luis Arce. Il a déclaré que le président lui avait demandé de «préparer quelque chose» pour améliorer sa cote de popularité. Ces propos ont jeté un voile de suspicion sur les événements, laissant planer l’incertitude sur leur véritable intention.
Plusieurs éléments semblent contredire la thèse d’une manipulation orchestrée par le président lui-même. D’une part, Zúñiga a massé des troupes et des blindés devant le palais présidentiel, ce qui constitue une action menaçante difficilement compatible avec une mise en scène. D’autre part, il a tenté d’entrer dans le bâtiment, ce qui indique qu’il avait l’intention de renverser le gouvernement.
