L’Archevêché de Port-au-Prince a annoncé, dans une note datée du 22 avril 2025, qu’une messe de suffrage sera célébrée ce vendredi 25 avril 2025 en mémoire du pape François, décédé le lundi dernier.
Qualifié de « serviteur des serviteurs de Dieu », le pape François a « achevé sa course terrestre et regagné la Maison du Père » après douze années de pontificat. Dans la note signée par le chancelier de l’archidiocèse, Mgr P. François Pétion, il est rappelé que son ministère a permis à l’Église universelle de redécouvrir « la grandeur et la beauté de la miséricorde, de l’humilité et de la fraternité universelle ».
La messe de suffrage aura lieu ce vendredi à 9h00 du matin à l’église Saint-Pierre de Pétion-Ville. L’archidiocèse invite les prêtres, religieux, religieuses et fidèles à se joindre à cette célébration et à s’unir dans la prière pour recommander au Seigneur l’âme de ce « humble Serviteur ».
La note se conclut par une prière à Marie, Mère de l’Espérance, afin qu’elle accompagne le pape François vers le Royaume qu’il a prêché et incarné par le témoignage de sa vie.
La couleur liturgique de cette cérémonie sera le blanc, symbole d’espérance et de résurrection.
