Par ailleurs, si l’esclavage a été aboli, ses séquelles persistent sous d’autres formes. L’exploitation humaine, la traite des êtres humains et les injustices systémiques sont encore des réalités pour des millions de personnes à travers le monde. Honorer la mémoire des victimes de l’esclavage ne signifie pas seulement se souvenir du passé, mais aussi agir pour un avenir plus juste.
