Les funérailles des journalistes victimes de l’attaque du 24 décembre sont annoncées

Le Collectif des Médias en Ligne (CMEL) a annoncé les dates officielles des funérailles des journalistes Jimmy Jean et Marckendy Natoux, tragiquement disparus lors de l’attaque terroriste du 24 décembre 2024 à l’Hôpital Général . Selon Dieudonné St Cyr, Secrétaire Général du CMEL, les obsèques se tiendront cette semaine : Jimmy Jean sera honoré le jeudi 16 janvier à l’église Saint-Pierre de Pétion-Ville, tandis que Marckendy Natoux recevra un dernier hommage le samedi 18 janvier à l’Église de Dieu de Boulard située à Delmas 32.

Par ailleurs, le CMEL a confirmé que les autres journalistes blessés lors de l’attaque sont toujours hospitalisés et bénéficient du soutien actif de l’État haïtien. Ce dernier s’est engagé à assurer leur prise en charge médicale et à soutenir leurs familles. Une initiative qui, selon Dieudonné St Cyr, reflète une volonté de réparer, au moins en partie, les séquelles laissées par cette tragédie.

Le Collectif a également exprimé sa profonde gratitude envers l’UNESCO et sa Directrice générale, Audrey Azoulay, pour leur soutien moral et institutionnel. Le message réconfortant de l’UNESCO est perçu comme un geste symbolique fort, apportant un réconfort à la communauté des journalistes, durement éprouvée par cet acte de violence.

Appuyé par l’UNESCO, le CMEL a lancé un appel pressant aux autorités haïtiennes pour qu’elles mènent des enquêtes approfondies sur ces crimes odieux. « La justice pour Jimmy Jean, Marckendy Natoux et tous les journalistes touchés est essentielle pour restaurer la confiance et dissuader toute nouvelle violence contre les professionnels de l’information », a souligné Dieudonné St Cyr.

Alors que les familles des victimes s’apprêtent à leur dire adieu, l’émotion est palpable dans la communauté journalistique haïtienne. Cette tragédie, bien que déchirante, met en évidence l’urgence de protéger les journalistes dans un contexte où les libertés fondamentales sont constamment menacées.
