Nouvelle pénurie d’essence dans la région métropolitaine de Port-au-Prince

La région métropolitaine de Port-au-Prince est une nouvelle fois frappée par une pénurie sévère de carburant. Depuis plusieurs jours, les stations-service sont à sec, les prix du transport explosent et le marché noir s’enflamme. En toile de fond, les opérations du terminal Varreux sont déstabilisées.

La circulation est fortement perturbée, depuis ce week-end jusqu’à ce mardi 22 avril 2025, dans plusieurs zones de la capitale, notamment à Delmas, Pétion-Ville, Gérald Bataille et Fleuriot, en raison d’une grave pénurie d’essence qui frappe de plein fouet la région métropolitaine de Port-au-Prince. Les tarifs du transport en commun ont doublé, imposant une charge financière supplémentaire aux passagers déjà éprouvés.

Plusieurs stations-service ont été contraintes de fermer temporairement leurs portes, faute d’approvisionnement. Le carburant, essentiel à la mobilité urbaine, se fait rare. Cette crise affecte fortement les chauffeurs de transport public, mais également l’ensemble des usagers.

« Si les prix du transport ne montent pas, on ne pourra même pas acheter l’essence, qu’on ne trouve désormais qu’au marché noir à des prix exorbitants », confie un chauffeur de Delmas, visiblement épuisé par la situation.

« À chaque crise, ce sont toujours nous, les passagers, qui en payons le prix fort », déplore une passagère rencontrée à Gérald Bataille.

Le regard se tourne vers le terminal pétrolier de Varreux – cœur de la distribution de carburant en Haïti – dont ses opérations se sont complexifiées depuis plus trois jours. Selon plusieurs sources, cette paralysie serait orchestrée par le groupe criminel Viv Ansanm, qui continue d’asphyxier l’économie haïtienne dans un climat de violence persistante.

À l’heure actuelle, aucune déclaration officielle des autorités n’a été faite pour expliquer cette nouvelle rupture d’approvisionnement. En attendant, les files d’attente s’allongent devant les rares stations encore opérationnelles, tandis que le marché noir prospère, alimenté par une distribution clandestine et anarchique.
